Underpin and Conversion South Cambridge
Our client required the conservation of an existing three bedroom end terrace property into one two bedroom flat and one one bedroom flat. During the structural adaption of the property it was identified that an old lead main had been leaking below the concrete oversite for many years and had caused the foundations to subside. In addition the soft ground had caused cracking to the internal spine wall of the property which incorporated the large and heavy chimney stack. As an emergency the first floor of the property was propped and the chimney stack secured with bracing. The stack and the spine wall of the property were demolished. We were then able to carry out the traditional underpinning to the existing foundations therefore stabilizing the structure. The conversion works were then able to continue as planned to completion.
